The Temptations

I usually don't watch VH1 but I do skim articles on Google Trend and there is a movie running on The Temptations. Now I don't know how many of you remember this fine musical group, but I do. Who wouldn't?
I loved singing and swaying along to their lyrics when I was a teenager. OK, I've given enough away. If you check my bio, I've got a grown son! Anyway, check out the video and if you ever have the chance catch The Temptations when they're in town, unless you already have seen them, then grab the chance to see them again and see the movie. It tells how they went from rags to riches and all the turmoil they put up with-is that any different than any group in that time era?

Don't worry, it ends up pretty good.

Lest we forget...

Memorial Day is a day to remember those who have fought and served in our armed forces in all of the wars of our country.

Memorial Day is a United States Federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (in 2008 on May 26). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War I to include casualties of any war or military action.

Of course, as The United States continued their military action, so did the honor of being included in the Memorial Day proceedings. Unfortunately, I was never in any branch of the military. But my father did serve in the Navy in World War II and in the Air Force in Korea of which I am very proud. I pray for the safe return of those in Iraq and am grateful for sacrifice of all those that have gone on before.

God Bless America!

Mr. Rogers

I have great memories of growing up with Mr. Fred Rogers. I always did have a sneaking suspicion that he was a little bit too corny, but we all need that in today's world. I made sure my son watched him. And guess what? As far as I know, the kid's grown to be an excellent man. I'm very proud of him. It's not just the job I've done, but the input from his dad and the influence from those around that are so essential! That includes TV and movies. I don't care what people say, the future is our children and with the passing of Fred Rogers in 2003 we should be happy that Sesame Street still remains. Of course, our kids could always watch junk like King of the Hill or The Simpson's which we know is adults only, but tell the studios that-its in cartoon form!
Where's Mr. Rogers when you need him!! Cheers!

Did the Olsen Twins get milk?

There was a story on the Internet that a Starbucks switched full-fat for skim when the Olsen girls aha ordered otherwise. That's it, he just thought they were too skinny so the barista at their West Village Starbucks took matters into their own hands. That's cool! Those girls are going to dwindle down to nothing! All they need is a good healthy meal at least once a day, they subsidize themselves in the morning. Or even have a healthy breakfast and eat light the rest of the day! Have a few vitamins! OH MY GOSH! Do they realize the number of people who have nothing to eat, nothing!!! And we're the lucky ones because we have too much. We should all remain grateful for what we have, even if it's high gas and food prices...

Cheers and best wishes!

The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps

I was browsing Google tonight and looking to see what drum corps was up to but it was actually too early in the season. I did come across some very old corps videos and they were tempting but not as tempting as watching a fife and drum corps called The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. After watching their routine I went on to read a few of the comments below and it was quite interesting! I didn't realize that drum majors only saluted with their right hand, yet fife drum majors are allowed to salute with their left as well! You also might like to watch about 3 minutes into the video for an awesome drum solo-I liked it anyway!

My goal is to attend the grand Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland. My parents have been there but its something that's still out of reach-for now. There are quite a few things going on in the states along with drum corps so we hope to keep busy with that.

In the meantime, please click here and enjoy

The picture doesn't do them justice!

American Idol

I gave some time to DWTS so here's some room to all you American Idol fans, as ccontestants are disappearing as the "American Idol" finale approaches so are the viewers.
The 21.8 million people who watched last Tuesday's competition was the shows smallest Tuesday audience in more than five years. The show did better the next night, with 22.9 million, but that was the smallest Wednesday audience in three years, according to Nielsen Media Research.
They were still the most popular programs in prime-time last week. Even though it is the May ratings "sweep," no other show cracked the 20 million viewer mark, once considered routine for television's top programs.
Another one-time big event, the finale of a "Survivor" season on CBS, was seen by 13 million viewers and didn't crack Nielsen's top 10.

I don't know why. The last three contestants should be in a dead heat! They're all as good as the next. Why doesn't someone just throw Simon, Paula and Randy out and get some real judges in there for the finale. Oh heck, just give a three way prize!

Cheers!

How I Met Your Mother launches charity aucton

There's was a good reason for watching 'How I Met Your Mother' Monday night other than to see Britney Spears reprising her role as Abby, the receptionist who may or may not be Barney's next conquest. On the episode called Everything Must Go, Lily and Marshall face their financial troubles head on. With Marshall out of his evil corporate job, their future tied up in an apartment that's in desperate need of renovations because it was built on an incline, and Lily's credit card debt nearly $100,000, the Eriksens are in trouble. It's been building for weeks and it reaches a boiling point tonight when they realize everything must go.They set up an online auction at a site called lilyandmarshallselltheirstuff.com. The twist here is that the website auction is for real, reports USA Today (sorry, no link... the story is only in the print edition). The creators of the show have set up the site and will raise money for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles by selling Lily and Marshall's props and costumes. The auction site will last two weeks. The site is part of charityfolks.com and you can register now to take part once it goes live this evening. This is a win-win for fans of the show. You can, perhaps, grab a cool collectible from one of the best comedies on TV and do something nice for charity, too. I know that Lily has been buying all that designer stuff but that just isn't my thing. Unless it's really cool, then I must have it!

As I've already mention, there is no link so please type in lilyandmarshallselltheirstuff.com to get to the website. Thank you!

A Little bit Country vs Big Country...

I'm afraid Marie Osmond has bit off more than she can chew. If I were her I would not go around telling someone else how to raise my kid. It's been reported that little ol' Marie has done and told off Billy Ray Cyrus about his bad parenting skills for leaving his daughter unattended during a photo shoot. In the meantime, it seems the photographer got away with taking some indecent pictures of Miley Cyrus.

Well, as much as I like Marie, I have to admit, you can't do that. I would not want someone else telling me how to raise my child. And then, to tell me I had done a lousy job of it when the kid had turned out pretty darned good all things considered.

I do believe Marie Osmond's son went into rehab last month, or was that someone else's kid? I don't know, they all run together. And I know that Marie fainted on DWTS and that Billy Ray made a crack about Jack (Daniels). But she's countering with the dancing schedule and dieting.

Go figure. Ah, show biz!

Eight Belles

I was pulling for the filly Eight Belles in the Kentucky Derby. So, when I heard that she had been been put down due to 2 front broken ankles, I was little skeptical. You have to admit, that doesn't happen often. Anyway, I've been doing some reading and the Humane people want to get on top of the horse breeders and such. They also want to take away whips from jockeys. Now, I'm all for humanity to animals. I love little puppies. I love kittens. I even love a foal! Man, when those baby geese where born outside our work, they were soooo cute, but then they grew up.....

But the owners have a point, horses are big animals with minds of their own and if you don't tell them want you want done they can and will overpower you and be well, stubborn! I guess the Humane Society and PETA has something when they talk about over-breeding, and that's something that should be addressed. Is there some way our horse breeders could mix in some good Arabian stock? These are fast and beautiful animals and hopefully it won't take away from the beautiful Thoroughbred that we have. Of course, someones probably already thought of that.

Mint juleps for everyone! Cheers!

Where has the time gone???

Little Rudy has grown up! Why I remember her as the little Huxtable on the Cosby Show always telling Dad what to do but now Keshia Knight-Pulliam will star as an imprisoned prostitute in the latest Tyler Perry movie "Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail'.
Knight-Pulliam, will be joined in the cast by Perry, Derek Luke, Tamela Mann and David Mann.
The play-turned-movie centers on Madea (Perry), whose propensity for causing trouble lands her in jail. She comes to the rescue of Candy (Pulliam), a fellow inmate who is locked up for prostitution and gets preyed upon by a woman named Big Sal in jail. Luke is on track to play Joshua, an attorney who has a past with Candy.
Writer-director Perry, who based the film on his play, is producing the project under Lionsgate with Reuben Cannon as well as playing multiple roles. Filming is set to begin in mid-May in Atlanta, with a tentative early 2009 release planned.

I guess some good things must come to an end and there must be better ones to come along!

Cheers!

Cartoon voice-overs

I came across something that was completely interesting and it involved comedians voice-overs in movies! As I went through the list I was brought back to quite a few of the special animated movies we had enjoyed, Besides Aladdin, there was Shrek, Shrek 2, Toy Story, Ice Age and all the voices that made them work.
The funny thing is that the one movie that is mentioned as being a favorite, Aladdin, and is of course voiced over by Robin Williams as the Genie and had been taken over by Robin Williams and Gilbert Godfrey as the parrot-the editors and the animators were pulling their hair out trying to keep up with their ad-libbing, but you need to listen for the innuendos.
If you've ever heard Mr. Williams over the years, you know what I mean.

Click here for the full list and see if your favorite comedian is listed!

Cheers!
